Funny Words You May Not Know the Meaning Of

I enjoy seeing and learning words that I was not aware of. Words With Friends players and crossword afficionados know what I am talking about. These crazy words pop up when I play WWF and many times, I will click the dictionary button to find the meaning. I have learned a few good words this way. So, off we go!  (I know you will know at least a couple of these!)

Bugbear - any source, real or imaginary, of needless fright or fear (noun)

Catawampus or Cattywampus - askew, messed up (adjective)

Flummery - oatmeal or flour boiled with water until thick (noun)

Foofaraw - a great fuss or disturbance about something very insignificant (noun)

Fuzzbox - an electronic device that breaks up the sound passing through it, used especially by guitarists. (noun)

Glabella - the flat area of bone between the eyebrows (noun)

Haboob - a thick dust storm or sandstorm that blows in the deserts of North Africa and Arabia or on the plains of India (noun)

Hoosegow - a prison (noun)

Jabberwocky - a playful imitation of language consisting of invented, meaningless words (noun)

Sally port - a secure, controlled entry way to an enclosure such as a prison or jail (noun)
